From the Author

This book reflects the values I’ve held throughout my career, but I owe a great deal to two extraordinary women in my life whose work continues to inspire me.

My wife, Stephanie Moes, a legal aid attorney with advanced degrees in both social work and law, has spent her career advancing justice in housing, education, and poverty law. Her commitment to fairness and equity has shaped not only my work—but our family's sense of purpose.

And to my daughter, Margaret Lysaght, who recently earned her Doctorate in Nursing, thank you for carrying forward that same spirit of service—promoting health, compassion, and care for the suffering. Together, their dedication reminds me that housing, education, and health are inseparable pillars of justice.
